workshop background
nFive Days to Cellular
Manufacturing.
nReal-Time Implementation On
Your Equipment.
nLearn While Doing Through
Kaizen Blitz.
nUse In Any Industry
In this intense, five-day "event" one to five teams design and implement
workcells in their respective areas.
In a preparation phase of 2-4 weeks, consultant works
with your in-house facilitator to select areas or product lines, identify team
members, collect information and provide necessary resources. Under the guidance of our consultant, teams learn the essentials of cell design, and design
their own cells. The teams work 10-12 hour days to quickly rearrange equipment, clean the
area and reorganize. The operate the workcell and measure results. All this in one week!

Five Days to Cellular
Manufacturing

How It Happens
Prepare
Your advisor and the
client's Kaizen Facilitator determine the area(s) for improvement. The
original process and situation is documented with videotape. The facilitator
assembles data and information required by the Kaizen Team.
Preparations are made and resources such as Maintenance,
Engineering and Tool Room personnel are reserved. Team members are assigned. Up to five teams may attack five different
products or processes.
Train
Twelve hours of training prepares the teams with tools and
techniques for analysis and the principles of workcell design.
Analyze
Teams analyze their videotapes, data.
5-S
Teams execute 5-S techniques to clean, paint, arrange and
organize the equipment and the area.
|
Modify, Repair &
Build
Team members return in the morning to continue.
Practice
Teams practice operations until execution is near-perfect. Videotapes
are made to demonstrate the improvement and provide the basis for
additional future Kaizen.
Standardize
As some team members practice, others document the process
and standardize operations.
Celebrate
A dinner
celebration features presentations by the teams. Celebration
formalizes the close of the initial phase and sets the stage for follow-up
and continuation.
Follow-Up
Some improvements are not feasible within
the timeframe. These are documented and implemented later. Metrics are
established. Your Strategos International
and MQIP advisor continues support via phone and email.
